As of July 14, 2019 Billy’s Sports Grill will be closing the doors of its English Village location due to the inability to negotiate a satisfactory lease renewal with The Barber Companies. It is with much regret & sadness that this action must be taken at this location as it has many loyal patrons and has been a tradition to many for forty years. Once it was known that closing was imminent of the English Village location, a search of other locations was initiated within the three villages without success. Billy’s will continue to serve the area from our Liberty Park store. We thank all of you for your patronage and continued support of our other locations in Liberty Park and Northport.

AN EVENING WITH ACCLAIMED SINGER-SONGWRITER ELLISA SUN

Ellisa Sun cuts out her heart and leaves it on the stage—which is why she never wears white. Currently on her first national tour, Ellisa is showing she has what it takes to make it on her own. Just a guitar, a 30-foot RV, and an insatiable desire to perform. Her sound is honest and textured, combining elements of jazz, soul, and pop.

You may hear about wings all thru the fall as football season typically goes hand in hand with a cold beer and hot wings, but chicken wings are something that our customers love to enjoy year round here at Billy’s Sports Grill. We don’t get caught up in the frills of sauce choice madness, we make them how we make them and are really excellent at it! The wings at Billy’s are jumbo wings, each one is very meaty, not wimpy. We fry them and toss then in our traditional Award Winning Wing Sauce and they are served with a choice of ranch or blue cheese dressing accompanied by celery sticks.
Award Winning Wings, you ask? Yes, that’s right! Billy’s has been voted Birmingham’s Best Hot wings numerous times in Birmingham’s Kickin’ Chicken Wing Competition. Rightfully so, if you like traditional, hearty hot wings then Billy’s is definitely your spot! You’re not into saucy wings or don’t prefer them fried? Billy’s does offer several other options of great dish. Try them fried without sauce, or ask for your sauce on the side. Or how about enjoying them grilled adding the extra flavor from the flames. One more option and a total customer favorite is having them “double fried, double sauced”. This means the wings are fried, tossed in sauce, fried again then tossed again. This creates a crispier more flavorful wing. It comes highly recommended by many.

Cooking in the Kitchen w/ Executive Chef Richard Showers
This morning we were pleased to visit your homes via a trip to WBRC Fox 6 studios & cooking on Good Day Alabama. Executive Chef Richard Showers was joined in the kitchen by Marketing & Special Events Manager, Leigh Ann Callaway and Good Day Alabama News Anchor Janice Rogers. Richard demonstrated how to prepare the Greek Seafood Nachos. What an amazing dish! The Greek Seafood Nachos are house-fried wonton chips topped with a spinach cheese sauce, sautéed shrimp & crawfish, diced tomatoes, red onions, banana peppers, black olives, green onions, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. He started out making the spinach cheese sauce, then sautéing the shrimp & crawfish. The dish was completed by topping a plate of wonton chips with the sauce, then the seafood, followed by the remaining toppings. Everyone just loved the dish. Come into Billy’s Sports Grill and try it yourself! It is available daily and is under the appetizer section of the menu. Note that you can also order the Spinach Cheese Sauce as a dip, also served with wonton chips. This item is available at all three Billy’s locations: English Village, Liberty Park, & Northport. Recipe
Chips – Wonton Chips – Fry wonton wrappers cut into triangles for 10 seconds at 350 degrees. Tortilla chips or store bought chips can be substituted. Please use extreme caution if frying at home.
Spinach Cheese Sauce
1 lb Extra-melt Cheese
9 oz Cream Cheese
1 Pint & 1 Cup (40 oz) Heavy Whipping Cream
12 oz Half & Half
1 oz White Wine
1/2 oz Chopped Garlic
1 lb Feta Cheese
4 oz of Freshly Chopped Spinach
In a pot over medium high heat combine the heavy whipping cream and half & half. Remember to stir throughout the process so that you do not scorch the sauce. Once the base is hot slowly combine in your extra melt cheese, then cream cheese making sure that the cheeses are throughly melted. Add in the white wine, chopped garlic, them feta cheese. Once the consistency is what you want it to be (typically smooth and creamy), add in your chopped spinach and stir.
Shrimp & Crawfish
Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a sauté pan and add shrimp & crawfish and sauté until throughly cooked.

CRIMSON TIDE REWIND TO BROADCAST FROM BILLY’S ENGLISH VILLAGE
New Crimson Tide Radio Show will broadcast live from Billy’s Sports Grill in English Village.
When it’s the new season for college football in Alabama everyone begins to gear up and get excited about those fall weekends. The banter between fans goes back and fourth on who is going to win and we know that it is finally here. This season there is an added extra from Crimson Tide fans. The Crimson Tide Sports Network has added a new radio show to their line up of University of Alabama Sports coverage. The new show, Crimson Tide Rewind, will join fans each week at Billy’s Sports Grill’s English Village location in Birmingham and broadcast live. Long time Crimson Tide Sports Network broadcaster, Chris Stewart, will host the new show.
Stewart says, the show will “give fans a chance to take a breath after a game, but while it is still fresh on the mind to give a complete recap”. When asked what kind of format the show will have Stewart stated, “We will talk with former players and hear post game comments from Coach Saban and current players”. This will start the week off with “an opportunity to take the first look and Alabama’s next opponent” said Stewart. If fans have an interest in posing a question or want to bring up something about the game, they can follow the following Twitter accounts to submit: @BillysSportGril, @CStewartSports, @UA_CTSM.
The show will air every Monday night following a University of Alabama Football game from 6PM-7PM on the Crimson Tide Sports Network and can be watched live at Billy’s Sports Grill in English Village (2012 Cahaba Road, Mountain Brook, AL 35223). The show will be followed by Monday Night Football in the restaurant, so the Crimson Tide Rewind brings a whole new aspect to football fans on Monday nights accompanied by the great food and drinks that Billy’s Sports Grill has to offer including Award Winning Wings.

TIPS FOR TUSCALOOSA SONGWRITERS NIGHT benefiting NICK’S KIDS FUND
The buzz about the once-a-month Songwriters Night at Billy’s Sports Grill Northport hosted by Nashville songwriter, Hope Cassity, is constantly growing along with the crowd in attendance. Not only have the crowds grown, but the list of unbelievably talented songwriters keeps getting longer. You never know who you might see performing at #TipsForTuscaloosa. So far over six thousand dollars have been raised for various charities like Arts N Autism, the Tuscaloosa Preservation Society, and the Humane Society of West Alabama. The Humane society event was really cool and encouraged spectators to bring their dogs with them and enjoy their “Pups on the Patio”. There were an abundance of pups in attendance that night in June and Billy’s has since seen a number of pups return to their favorite outdoor dining spot!
The next Tips for Tuscaloosa will take place on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 and is benefiting the Nick’s Kids Fund. The #NicksKidsFund is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children, family, teacher, and student causes. Nick and Terry Saban dedicate time to the Nick’s Kids Fund by executing multiple events throughout the year, as well as conducting day-to-day activities to keep the charity alive. Nick’s Kids is the official charity of Nick Saban and his family. Nick’s Kids Fund supports many organizations throughout the year, but focuses mainly on their annual giveaway in the fall. During this event Nick & Terry Saban distribute funds for the year to very gracious and deserving organizations.
The line up for that night already includes the following artists: Hope Cassity, Jackson Capps, John Miller, Brian Futch, Tori & Craig Wilson, Victoria Camp (broadcast live from the studio in Nashville), and a special guest songwriter, Sean Gasaway, who is also the Vice President of Verastar Records! Now the listed names are just the tip of the iceberg. There are many others that will be joining in the entertainment that night and if you are a songwriter that would like to perform, there is an open mic portion of the show and sign up is at 5:30PM.
If you want to get a sneak listen of the talent, tune into 95.3 The Bear the days leading up to the event and you may just hear a live on-air performance from one of the artists. The Bear will also be at Billy’s that night and will be doing call-ins during the event.
